Situated in the western part of Thailand, Kanchanaburi is renowned for its significant historical landmarks, particularly the Death Railway constructed during World War II. This railway line traverses the River Khwae Yai via the iconic Death Railway Bridge. Paying tribute to the prisoners of war who lost their lives during the construction, the JEATH War Museum offers insightful exhibits.
Additionally, the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre delves into the broader history of the railway. Adjacent to these sites, the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery serves as the final resting place for numerous Allied soldiers. During our visit, we will explore the War Museum (Thailand-Burma Railway Centre), pay respects at the War Cemetery, and embark on a poignant journey aboard the Death Railway Train, meandering through lush forests.
Our journey will persist as we proceed towards the Erawan National Park, where a remarkable sight awaits us—the captivating 7-tiered Erawan Falls, adorned with enchanting emerald green ponds. The park and its magnificent falls derive their name from the legendary three-headed white elephant of Hindu mythology, and indeed, the pinnacle tier of the falls bears a striking resemblance to an elephant’s head.
Once we have absorbed the beauty of this natural wonder, our adventure shall carry on as we embark on a scenic drive towards the charming destination of Uthai Thani.
The Wat Tha Sung Crystal Temple is also known as Wat Chantharam and it was built a long time ago, back in the days of Ayutthaya. The temple possesses a small-size monastery in which paintings depicting Buddha’s history were completed by local artists and some of which are understood to be painted later as they are unbalanced in some ways.
Another precious of the temple is the Luang Poh Yai pulpit. In the monastery, a stucco of Buddha’s image, as well as traditional Thai wood carvings on tympanum are beautifully installed.
Surrounded by nature, we will enjoy an old time river cruise along the Sakaekrang River. Afterwards we will continue to Sukhothai.
Visit the famous Historical Park of Sukhothai. You will be amazed by the many ruins from the 13th century. Wat Mahathat is considered the magical and spiritual center of the Kingdom and at Wat Sri Chum you will see one of the largest sitting Buddha statues of the country. Sukhothai was also the first capital of the Kingdom of Siam and is considered to be the cradle of Thai culture.
Visit Wat Phra That Lumpang Luang, a paradigm of the temple building of Lanna. The temple is prominently sited on a hillock surrounded by wall and has a large collection of ancient wooden utensils.
Drive further to Chiang Mai.
After breakfast, we embark on a captivating tour, delving into the rich spiritual heritage of Chiang Mai through its most significant temples.
First, we will ascend the revered Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, a sacred sanctuary perched atop a hill. Prepare to be awestruck by the challenging flight of steps, guarded by magnificent Naga Serpents, leading you to this enchanting site.
Next, we’ll uncover the historical wonders of Wat Chedi Luang. This once-massive pagoda, regrettably destroyed during the catastrophic earthquake of 1545, still captivates with its remnants and echoes of grandeur.
Our journey then leads us to Wat Phra Singh, where the exquisite Lai Kam chapel houses the venerated Phra Singh Buddha image. Prepare to be immersed in the tranquility and beauty of this revered sanctuary.
